Crazy Clocks 8 - This art style was inspired by by street art, comics, pop art, and line drawings and looking at Keith Harings work too much. drawing pen, marker, colour pencil on paper 160 g/m2 size: 21 x 29,7 cm - About Crazy Clocks: Crazy Clocks is a new art series and puts the focus on an everyday banal object. Clocks and watches are something we all own and look at regularly but we also take them for granted. We look at them without thinking about them unless we are about to purchase one, Most clock designs are elegant and can be very beautiful and even luxurious but they are never wacky or `way out there´ . This new art series is about doing exactly this: turning these ordinary functional objects into art and changing the way we look at them by going a little nuts – strange compositions, bizarre choice of colours or combinations, different types of materials, a variety of visual styles, techniques and more.

Tamara Teaksons´ work deals with a varietey of themes and subject matters. Most of these have always been about very serious issues but in recent years have become more diverse and sometimes even a little light-hearted. Teakson has been creating art about FGM (female genital mutilation) since the mid – 1990´s (the INEXPLICABLE series) and this and other forms of violence and pain, abuse remain recurring themes in her work. INEXPLICABLE I-III: INEXPLICABLE I: this was the artistic starting point and is mostly pen, ink and watercolour work. INEXPLICABLE II: is a slightly different visual approach, mostly paintings and is not just about FGM but also about pain, abuse, violence and vulnerability in general. INEXPLICABLE III: marks a new visual style, developed more recently. This style is also adopted in other work series and was inspired by a number of artists and art styles. BODY-BUILDINGS: combing and comparing anatomy and buildings. DROWNING: various, open to interpretation MONOLIKES: was started very recently is very different from previous approaches. It is not about a particular subject matter. The focus for this series is about the technique used to create the work. The title MONOLIKES comes from the word monoprinting. In monoprinting the printing plate is `inked up´ (ie paint is applied to the surface) and then removed in order to create the image which is then printed. This is the technique used to creating the paintings but in a more varied form. MONOLIKES is about anything - from serious to wacky or abstract stuff.
