ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The space is marvelous! It will kill you within seconds, but then your cold body is going to stay there forever, drifting endlessly through stars and planets. This thought is sometimes making me feel small and anxious, so I deal with it the best way I know — making fun of it and putting onto canvas! Imagining ending up drifting in space dead, but with a surfboard attached to your suit, holding your fingers in a forever shaka sign! Even more — imagine somebody finding you, billions of years later, having no idea what is it supposed to mean. That would be one hell of a joke! Painting is in a private collection in Sri Lanka.

I was born in a small town in the middle of Siberia, Russia back in 1985 in a family of an artist and a librarian. Did my first commercial mural at the age of 14 (two years before finishing the art school). Moved to Saint-Petersburg to get my IT engineer diploma (which i did actually), but in the process decided to become a graphic designer. Starting with ink artworks on paper, i went all the way to canvas, murals, plates even. I usually refer to my style as "lazy cheating" - limited 2-3 colors, black and white mostly, dotted shading. I pretty much dig the poster aesthetics as well as the different language letters and writings (oriental especially) and of course symbols! My works are scattered around the world - from United states to Bali and Australia, private collections mostly. In 2019 I moved to Sri-Lanka to live the neverending summer, so here we are.
