About The Artwork

Soup. All we needed As a Pop artist you’re always influenced by the ones that did it before you. Lichtenstein, Warhol, Haring. Allan™ went back to his childhood, remembering the simple days of eating bami noodle-soup. Sharing it with your siblings, Your mom who’s preparing it. And later on doing it yourself. providing it for others. This is a reminder of those days. the simple days. enjoying each other's company, a simple dish and a simple time. Mundane at the time. But now forever priceless.

Allan™ (Utrecht, NL / 1986) creates personal pop-art. An indigo-kid, many recognize their own youth, passions and (guilty)pleasures in his works. He unravels the beauty and importance of objects so often remaining unnoticed, even by the owner, because of their obvious presence or because they have fallen into oblivion. He magnifies those objects, be it the noodle soup brand he grew up with or a character from Streetfighter. Also, with his brushes Allan™ freezes specific film scenes and apparent figures, often weaving them with seemingly incongruous elements like rap lyrics or poem phrases. By isolating familiar matters from their natural context and magnifying them, things we take for granted come to life again and suddenly manifest themselves as representatives of an era that slipped out of our hands when we grew up or reflects our current attitude. Many of his artworks are made with an intent to be experienced as a visual mantra. A constant reminder to a feeling, an emotion of a higher sort. So we all can become part of his mission: to help up the frequency of the collective through his art.
