ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Oil and cold wax medium on canvas, the painting is quite textural and has a subtle satin finish to it. This painting is inspired by living inside a scaffold, complete with greenish safety netting. The scaffold was up for a good two weeks before the builders even appeared, so the experience went on for some time. I have always been fascinated by scaffolds, especially with netting and when they are lit up from inside, so living inside my own scaffold was just the best.

b 1971 UK Self taught artist working with many mediums but liking paint the best. Painting is just a language that I am more comfortable with, it has an honesty, it is what it is. My work is very unprocessed, direct, I don't see as I paint , just look at it sometime later, then start again or leave it alone until another time. I work with layers, building them up and scraping back, finding stuff I had forgotten about, the painting starts to get interesting, to develop its own past. The word paintings write themselves with no restraint, if I'm not sure I keep writing over, but ultimately the words, however buried, have been said.
