When I was 16, I went on a trip to Cambodia with my mother. On tour course, we visited the ruins in the jungle, and we still remembers the dust that the elephants made when they walked. And the jungle forest that stretched out to the far end of the horizon, looking up the steep ruins, was dyed orange as the sun went down and felt more mysterious. Based on the memories of that forgotten time, my life itself, living an uncertain journey as a painter is like Indiana Jones. but like the happy ending of a movie I leave with hope in my heart that a happy ending awaits. It felt like an adventure. As an ordinary person living in the present Republic of Korea in their 30s, I realized that the word ‘dream’ could feel like a luxury to someone living in a fierce reality. So, at some point, the word ‘dream’ became a very difficult word to get out of the mouth. In addition, when I was young, I thought that love, marriage, and forming a family were a natural process, but now I am feeling how difficult that ordinary life is. The man in the work is myself on an adventure for my ‘dream’ as a painter. And the woman contains my ‘ideal’ of wanting to one day marry a lover like the movie 'About Time', give birth to a child who resembles each other and build a family. While working on this project, maybe these personal concerns are the reality of this age that my peers in their late 20s and 30s are worried about? in south Korea, East Asia. Just like my art work, I am still as a painter, and I am continuing my unpredictable adventures. However, just as Indiana Jones goes through numerous adversity and eventually meets a happy ending, I too want to overcome adversity and achieve a happy ending as a writer by fulfilling my 'dream' and the 'ideal' of my life.
