Julia Hacker's latest direction in art is experimenting with different material qualities of paint. Recently the artist started using very thick applications of acrylic paint. She sculpts with heavy, delicious gell-like paint, creating 3d flowers and organic shapes on the wood panel. This approach might look like an easy gestural application, but it does require masterful handling of palette knives and other tools. Whimsical sculptural elements of handmade resin objects have an additional visual effect on the viewer. Vibrant colors, flowers, and fluid shapes fill the painting. Julia Hacker does not use a brush while sculpting objects with heavy, slow-drying paint. She breaks the rules of classical painting, marrying sculptural elements with paint. Her work is anything, but boring. The sides of the panel are painted, which creates a warm sense of a natural organic feel. The artwork does not require framing The painting arrives ready to be hung with a certificate of authenticity.
