'It takes a whole village to raise a child' is part of the series 'The Africa that was / Arrested Development', which is part of the Africa 3.0 project, in which I depict the contemporary 21st century Africa. The series 'The Africa that was / Arrested Development' questions if a people, whose religious and ethical system is robbed and replaced by something foreign can be truly independent. If one wonders why Africa is there where it is, the loss of genuine African religion and ethics is definitely one of the reasons, it has contributed largely to 'arrest' the development of Africa. The series consists of photographed stolen African religious artefacts in museums outside Africa. The photographs were re-drawn by digital means, to amplify their visual expression. As the original art work is digital, it will be printed on the buyer's preferred material. The original will be only printed once, on large format with high finish and signed by the artist. Next to the original, only unsigned copies will be available.
