Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality. ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland Sometimes I feel like drifting between places, between past and presence. Maybe the reason why is living abroad, going through moves and changes? The time passes and I’m becoming part of the new but at the same time I’m still not there. I think of my work as an expression of those feelings: atmosphere, the "inside". My inspiration comes mostly from all sort of images which I'm transferring onto a canvas or paper. What inspires me as well are dreams. They are like stories appearing unconsciously, while we sleep and disappearing when we wake up. Sort of memories which for some reason stay in our minds. They are surreal. As life sometimes can be. Alternating. Expressed in a full range of color and scenery. Maybe that’s why the visual aspect of my work is a necessity. In simple words: I like to create visually strong and accessible works. Coincidence is another this that plays a role in my work, but it’s a controlled one. I’m not waiting for an inspiration to come but I just paint all the time. Some canvasses appear disappointing but the next one might just be better. I’m more led by my heart and soul than a head while painting directly onto a canvass. The more you paint the more you know, it becomes “automatic” so you don’t have to think anymore. And yet, there is always something that escapes. That’s what I like in creating process. You never really know what will be the end-result. Ideas change like everything around us. Surreal mixes with reality. It’s just a matter of perception.
