David Moore is a watercolor artist whose work captures the rhythm of everyday life within familiar places.
Focusing on city streets, music scenes, and quiet corners of the natural world, his paintings explore the subtle interaction between people and their surroundings. Whether it’s a jazz musician lost in a late-night performance or a solitary figure moving through a city street, each piece is rooted in observation but guided by atmosphere and memory.
Working in watercolor allows for a balance of control and spontaneity—mirroring the fleeting nature of the moments he depicts. Light, movement, and gesture play a central role, often leaving space for the viewer to complete the story.
Moore’s work invites a sense of recognition—of having been there, or of wanting to be there—capturing not just a place, but the feeling of being present within it.
David graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois, where he studied graphic design and received the Student Of The Year award in the last year of study. While at the Academy, David studied under the guidance of master watercolorist, Irving Shapiro, AWS. His priciples of art and watercolor still provide inspiration and direction.
David Moore has exhibited in various shows and curated exhibits in the Midwest and Chicago area. He has paintings in private collections in Tuscany, Italy, Chicago, Nantucket and Florida.
