ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Acrylic and oil on violin. A wooden stand is included. The artwork can be hung on a wall or free-standing with the wooden stand. Acrylic and oil painting on real violins. From the artist's own experience, she observed children sized violins have lost its life as an instrument after the young violin players are grown up. Children's violins need to be replaced every few years with larger sized violins as their arms grow. The artist was a violin player for many years as a child. The project aims to give a new life as a work of art that is in both forms of painting and sculpture. It is an up-cycle art series using vintage violins turning into an artwork when the violin for children that I had been with in the past was neglected, losing its life as an instrument. Eury was also influenced by Man Ray's Le Violon d'Ingres (Ingres's Violin). As the main subject is often female portrait and figure, the artist found the similarity between forms of female body and violin as Man Ray did in the past. The artwork itself is a painting and sculpture and a musical instrument and visual artwork.

South Korea- born Australian artist, currently based in Seoul. "The early immigration period was difficult to communicate in the language, but the sense of isolation has driven me into creating art as another way of communication. Since then, art never left me." Since 2015, Eury moved back to Korea and started her art series that involves Korean poetic approach in fine art. The latest series contains flows and rhythms of Eastern art in the absorption of Western form, texture and colour. The artworks convey the world that may not be visible but the dreamlike imagery. The artist's recent works display a poetic space formed by fairytale-like natural environment and symbols with Korean traditional art approach, creating a hidden, mystic and dreamy atmosphere. In collaboration with her personal feelings, she recorded certain visual scenes that remembered from her dreams and imagination.
