Dune dance between a desert mirage and a sunset over the sea. The sinuous shapes are made softer by the resin, the light is diffused creating a similar effect both to the surface of the water and to the sand irradiated by the sun. First work of the series dedicated to the countless landscapes present on our planet.

About The Artwork

"You cannot understand a process by stopping it. Understanding must flow with the process, must unite with it and flow with it." Dune - Frank Herbert Dune is an expanse of sand in the desert or the waves of a calm sea at sunset. It is the Fata Morgana effect that has inspired numerous poetic works over the centuries. In optics it is a complex and unusual form of mirage, observed on land or at sea, in polar regions or in deserts. Dune is an homage to Frank Herbrt's 1965 novel of the same name. Dune is a novel about transcendence, your existence is what you discover not what you determine, as in the Fata Morgana effect, what you see is different from what it is. The protagonist of the novel is Paul Atreides. Paul discovers that he is the long-awaited messiah, the Kwisatz Haderach, and thanks to his foresight he discovers that the path that destiny has placed before him will lead to a holy war, causing millions of deaths. This awareness makes him somewhat reluctant to accept what he has to do. Despite his doubts, he will be forced to play the role that has been imposed on him without the possibility of choice. Freedom is not in deciding who you want to become, freedom is in accepting and knowing how to recognize what you are. Paul's freedom is the freedom to submit to the destiny that has always been prepared in front of him. Dune tells of the progression of history and the inevitability of our roles in that history, as in Hegelian philosophy history progresses and gives us roles that we cannot truly freely determine, but only recognize.

We are Federica Venier and Federico Grande, a couple in work and in life, self-taught sculptors since 2015. Our adventure was born almost for fun, not having much money to invest we started using low cost and recycled materials. Today's society is characterized by strong consumerism and many materials are wasted or thrown away, but we think it is important to enhance them by giving them a second life. Even with poor and waste materials you can create an extraordinary work. Our artworks are unique pieces made entirely by hand. The light interacts with them making them "alive", they change according to the time of day, the weather, the lighting and the point from which you look at it.
