Afro Sculpture

The materials that I use intuitively inspired this work. I found a way to integrate the metal portal filled with painted stones, into the midst of the circular pile of painted fallen leaves to create a pleasing, balanced unity for the piece. I hope the viewers will be intrigued by the suggestion of an "afro" hairdo by the rounded, textural pile of leaves. I like working in an open-ended manner in which the materials dictate the limits of the possibilities for inventing an abstract sculptural work. I realize this approach sounds quite experimental, which it is. I admire Louise Bourgeois.
