ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Premium Pigment Print, matte, with an additional white border. Limited edition of 5 Comes with a certificate of authenticity, edition no. and signature. The Authorities of the former GDR ordered a monument to celebrate the heroes of marxist theory. The unheroic statue by Ludwig Engelhardt was placed in the middle of Berlin and soon became popular and still is, even after the unification of East and West Germany. The two 'founding fathers' were photographed over and over again, by tourists as well as by professionals, and so I wondered, if there still was an alternative way of doing the job. By strongly digital manipulation I ended up with a contour portrait. I also reduced the colors of the original photo and got, what at a first glance, might look like a black and white picture. But deliberately I left two tiny traces of color, a blue and a yellow one.

Once a scholar, now a photographer: After retiring, Hans Carl Finsen, a professor of German, has started a new career as a fine art photographer. Actually, he has been practicing photography for decades, but not until now sought an audience. His debut was in 2013. Lives and works in Aarhus, Denmark. As a photographer Finsen is looking for aesthetically interesting, thrilling, appealing or pleasing constellations. In the quest for these constellations he doesn't confine himself to certain subjects or a certain style. He moves in all directions where inspiration takes him and so his work is diversified. Nevertheless three focus points are discernible: 1 architecture and townscape 2 the art museum. He visits museums worldwide to get inspired by interiors and exteriors, works of art, visitors and the view from the museum 3 masters. He remodels, remasters, modifies and combines old and new masters creating the series 'Masters Remodeled' alphahc@mail8.dk https://hcfinsen.myportfolio.com
