Oleg Matveyev is a self-taught Russia born Scottish semi-professional artist. Oleg was born in city of Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg now) in 1959. In 1972 his family and he moved in Moscow. Oleg started drawing in 1972. Before 2000 he preferred to use mainly Indian black ink and draw symbolic pictures. That time rock music and books were sources of his creative inspiration (Pink Floyd, Genesis, Rick Wakeman, ELP, Strugatsky brothers, Shakespeare, Alexandr Grin etc). In 2000 Oleg was transferred from Moscow in Dundee (Scotland) by his American employer company. He immediately fell in love with Scottish history, people, and nature. Since then, he was painting Scottish landscapes how he saw them through his Russian eyes. By media from 2002 to 2014 Oleg used oils on stretched canvas. Since 2014 he is using acrylic paints on canvas on board. Realism and photorealism prevailed in his paintings. In 2023 Oleg due to the medical condition related to his left eye started painting in pointillistic style using acrylic ink and acrylic paint pens. Between 1976 and 1982 Oleg had 3 personal exhibitions in Moscow. From 2004 to 2010 he was a member of Dundee Art Society and Broughty Ferry Art Society and participated in regular exhibitions. In 2005 had a personal exhibition in Tartan Coffee House in Dundee. Oleg have had 2 commissions. In the period between 2005 and 2020 Oleg sold more than 100 paintings to people of different coutries.
