About The Artwork

‘Time to Speak of Love’ is a mixed media painting on deep canvas. A variety of textures and techniques are used to convey a golden meadow, with trees on the skyline in the distance. This painting was created for a ‘Biblical women’ exhibition that tours Wales annually. It was inspired by the timeless tale of Ruth, in the bible. When Ruth became a widow, she was offered kindness by Boaz, a farmer, who allowed her to glean the remnants of barley in his fields, after the harvest. The stems of barley in the foreground of the painting capture the essence of hope and sustenance that can be found amidst the difficulties of life. As the gentle breeze carries whispers of ancient wisdom, the delicate strands of barley symbolise the resilience of life and the promise of abundance even in the smallest remnants. In a world often fraught with uncertainty, this artwork serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring power of faith, perseverance, and the bountiful harvest that awaits those who glean with a heart full of hope.
