ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"The Precarious Balance of Things" is from a series of modern abstract landscapes inspired by a recent road trip to the western United States where canyons, buttes, and mesas conjure a unique and iconic geographic story. These are not figurative landscapes, but reflect sensations of place and time. Here earth tones are powerful, grounding, and healing. Hard edges melt into soft spaces where spirit and mind are free to roam. This abstract expressionist painting will light up a small space. It pairs beautifully with "Layers in Time." Please see additional photos for details. Full size is 20H x16Wx .75D inches on cradled wood. Its sides are natural wood, so framing is optional. It's wired and ready to hang, is signed on back, and ships in a box.

Featured in Saatchi Art collections and catalog, Michelle Louis is a full-time painter based near Madison, Wisconsin. Her work has been in numerous exhibitions, and included in corporate, public, and private collections throughout the United States and abroad, including the National Gallery of Costa Rica. She's licensed work to designers and consultants for projects large and small. "Artist and naturalist, I'm curious about how nature inspires awe, how we feel it deep in our bones, how to express that connection, and what we can learn from it. My process-focused work explores balance, pattern, and connection in a complex world. Celebrating Nature through form and movement, I want to show you how Nature and time constantly expand and contract all around us. I hope my work serves as a reminder to be receptive to beauty and mystery. Whether artist or viewer, individual life experience makes its way into every artwork while Nature reminds us we are all part of something larger." Trained in studio art, graphic design, and landscape architecture, Michelle Louis' studio extends to her yard, where she nurtures an edible landscape. BA, University of Wisconsin, USA.
