About The Artwork

If you are a fan of the 1974 version of The Great Gatsby, the title will be obvious. If not, get a copy of F. Scott Fitzgerald's great novel about the roaring 20's and have yourself a satisfying few hours. Of course, this scene never happened in the movie, Redford always had his back to the camera when he was looking across the bay to Daisy's house and the green light on their pier. THE GREEN LIGHT is a one of a kind original work of art. It is produced using India ink and acrylic paint. I only sell original work so there will only be one original. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. This painting will be ready to hang, out of the box. It will be mounted on tempered masonite with a one inch border all around and a 1.5” wide wooden frame. It will have a hanging strip on the back and I include a “monkey hook” for easy attachment to your wall. It can be on your wall within five minutes.

I am an architect by education, and profession. I have practiced architecture for over three decades. A good deal of my experience as an artist developed from doing architectural plans and illustrations. In addition to my architectural work, I have always enjoyed producing works of "visual art". It has provided a wonderful counterpoint to the precise work involved in architectural drawings: the highly precise vs. the "free and spontaneous". I still work with the same media that I have used in architectural work: India ink, graphite pencil and acrylic paint on archival quality mylar film. I like for my work to show either emotion or action.... Occasionally both. Emotion is usually captured in a close-up portrait or perhaps full figure drawings. Action is depicted in dance or sporting events. Other than that, I don't have any deep philosophical ideas about my art except that I want to produce works that people will enjoy and be proud to have hanging on their walls.
