Techniques and mediums: Rikkelman is known for his ability to combine different mediums and techniques. His approach is not tied to a single method or style. This diversity in his artistic practice allows him to explore and express different aspects of his themes. Themes and inspiration: An important aspect of Rene's work is its emphasis on themes such as identity, culture, and human emotion. His art often serves as a medium to explore and present these complex ideas in a way that resonates both personally and universally. He draws inspiration from his own experiences and observations, as well as from the broader historical, social, and cultural context.

René Rikkelman 'My sculptures, modeled in wax or clay and than cast in bronze, are often stylized figures and portraits. Apart from the form, I give the patina of my sculptures a lot of attention. By experimenting with acids interacting with my chosen materials, I can achieve surprising results. After casting, I finish my sculptures myself in my studio in Amsterdam. I give the patina of my images a lot of attention. Because I have applied many patinas over the years not only to my own sculptures but also on commission to images by other artists and a few years ago to have followed a workshop with the 'maestro' in the patina field Patrick Kipper in Loveland Colorado, I have mastered a large varied pallet.' After the Academy of Advertising Design René Rikkelman (Amsterdam, 1959) worked for twelve years as an advertising and decoration painter and in 1988 he started as a professional independent artist. He specialized on multiple disciplines and in various techniques causing him a variety of management styles. René works in both two and three dimensional design.
