Reminisce Painting

The painting was inspired by the history of Antinous:the roman Emperor,Hadrians's lover who in one of the many versions of his death,he drowned himself in the river to save his lover's honor. The painting depicts someone who facing the inevitable end,is reminiscing about the past and the days of love and light,days that are gone forever.It is like Aligheri used to say:"There is no greater sorrow than to recall a happy time when miserable. I hope that the viewers and the Audience will get the same feeling and sensation(melancholia and nostalgia)as the protagonist(hero) in this painting,a soft feeling of melancholy about the past.A good word to describe it would the Portuguese word "Saudade".
