About The Artwork

This beautiful historic structure, built in 1872 as a life-saving staion, stands alone with an adjacent barn in a field of seagrasss and flowers. It was a clear cobalt blue sky in late July that made the white structure pop atop the landscape. It is painted on a gallery frame which edges are finished in white. I can be hung as is or framed in a 1.5" deep floating frame. It is signed, varnished and protected on the back with dust paper and wire for hanging.

I am a Cape Cod artist, living and working on a small island year round. I am inspired by the ever-shifting landscapes of the beaches and dunes. I love to paint in oils en plein air. This medium allows for constant manipulation. Like working with clay, it gives me the ability to represent the distinct textures, colors and atmospheres found on the Cape. In particular, I am drawn to landscapes that include distant houses or structures that have stories and histories of their own. E-mail me for more information regarding my monthly open studios.
