About The Artwork

Abstract painting of Poppy fields and Pink HIlls This is an abstracted view of an afternoon walking through poppy fields. As the sun began to set, not only were the poppies brilliant in reds and pinks, but the sky and the hills began to be colored with shades of pink as well! I wanted this painting to evoke in the viewer that same sense of wonder and excitement I felt in that moment. The painting has both thin "watercolor" like areas and thicker painted areas reminiscent of oil painting. I love the contrasts in texture that allow you to almost "feel" impact of the brilliantly colored poppies against the smooth grasslands. The work was painted on canvas which has been attached to a 100% birch wood treated panel which I have stained and finished with a dark walnut brown to complement the painting. It is ready to hang, including hardware, though it could be professionally framed if you prefer. Title: Poppy Fields and Pink Hills 18" X 18" X 1.5"

I was once traveling with a close friend, photographing everything in sight, as any tourist does. I asked him, "Don't you want to take any photos?" He answered, "I like to remember things in my own way." What a profound statement - and one that I take seriously when I paint. My art is about remembering things . . . in my own way . . . and "disremembering" everything else. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, my artistic career began at an early age when I began painting with my mother on Sunday afternoons. Surrounded by art books, paintings and sculpture at home, I always knew I wanted to be a painter.
