(This painting, 'penguin' was exhibited at Saatchi Gallery in 2019.) I paint sounds and movements. First, I expect you to be able to see the sound with my paintings. Because my work is visual art, not auditory art, I intend to convey sound through images. I want you to hear that the sound of the flapping of birds wings, the water rippling from sea animals, the hoofs hitting the ground, and the roar of wild beasts. The reason for expressing movement is that there is nothing stationary in this world. Everything moves and changes. In particular, the movement in the microscopic world is very intense, and it is a scientific truth. To add time to the spatial art, I expressed the movement by drawing two animals at a time. However, the two figures are not distinct, because in fact they are one animal. That is why the title of this work is singular rather than plural. Also, I was inspired by the rules of the microscopic world of 'accident' and 'uncertainty', and emphasized its mobility with scattered lines. As the object reveals the background, the distinction between the object and the background becomes unnecessary. Flowing or sprinkling paint also creates a new composition by accidental movement. The world has no clear boundaries and divisions. If there is one thing that is clearly fixed, it will be a 'name' given by humans. I've been drawing portraits all along, but the reason I changed the subject to animals was because I got sick and tired of humans. I even felt disgusted by the arrogance of humans who divide the world, dominate nature. So my works include polar bears displaced by melting ice, sea turtles with plastic straws stuck in their nostrils, and minke whales brutally captured in the Pacific Ocean. I want the countless animals that die or suffer unreasonably from human egoism to be freed from humans. Also, I don't want animals to be trapped in my canvas. I want the animals to run far, fly high and swim deep, not dead stuffed in canvas.
