About The Artwork
This artwork was inspired by the Crucifixion of Christ as it seems by its title. Yet, the symbol of Cross is missing giving its place to the posture of the crucified body in front of a savage countryside. Moreover, this posture takes after the one of Prometheus, the mythological hero who loved mankind, opposed to the will of Zeus and therefore was forced to stand by the slope of a mountain as the eagle was eating his bowels. So, I think the symbolism and in addition the resemblance between Jesus Christ and Prometheus are more than obvious.
