About The Artwork
Ten minutes after re-entering earths atmosphere, on the morning of 1st February 2003, temperatures reached their peak on Columbia's wings. Witnesses observed a bright flash and as the space shuttle Columbia continued on its trajectory, trailing smoke and gasses, pieces of debris were detected failing to the ground. At 9am, eastern time,the crew module broke up killing all seven crew members.
