This painting is from collection of oil paintings, which celebrate life, people, animals, bizarre stories and exotic dream lands. All with portion of humor and a bit of erotic. It’s simply allegory of life made with extraordinary juicy colors. The painting Before sleep is inspired by the Minotaurus beast from the classical greek mythology. Here you can see the Minotaurus in his unknown peaceful form. He plays with a young girl, which been probably sended to him. What if he was not the monster, but just a lonely guy who wanted to have some company and love? They both playing together with a skull, symbolic object of a impermanence, which has now different use - it´s just the object of a joyful game. The garden self is open, full of life and warm atmosphere. I hope that in this painting people can find a good field for a philosophical thoughts, connect self with a human history but also just simply enjoy the fresh colors and the moment which is captured there. The painting is made with a classical oil technique, which I appreciate mainly because the brightness of colors.

Jana Blum Zimová was born in the Czech Republic in 1987 and now lives and works in Germany. In the tradition of Magical Realism, her works present unreal and impossible events taking place in the real world. The impossible or supernatural happens in her paintings. The artist uses imagination in the frame of natural environment and social realities, thus searching for a truth that goes beyond what is visible in everyday life. In those so-called “magical happenings” in her paintings, reality and dream melt into a superordinate totality that needs to be interpreted. text: Muster-Meier Gallery Jana Zimová is a Czech artist. The theme of all of her paintings are bizarre stories, that are full of dramatic moments, erotic, miracles and weird beasts. The inspiration for these artworks are drawn from stories that appear in the daily press and from the traditional myths from South America and Asia. Zimovás works are full of allegorys and a dark symbolism, this makes her works look scary and inviting at the same time. In her paintings the exaggerated reality collides with nightmares and dreams, always spiced with a portion of humor. text: Mark Paul Divo
