Reflections occur when light bounces off a surface. The angle of the reflected ray changes if the viewer changes their viewpoint. For example, if a reflection in water is viewed from high up, rather than from down on the riverbank, the angle of reflection will be more acute. Therefore the former reflection will contain much more sky and less of the riverain forest than the latter. All such reflections are visual inversions of the view, but the inversion of the sky is a less familiar experience that momentarily disrupts visual expectations by making it less immediately comprehensible. In this respect this occurence resembles an encounter with the Kantian sublime, where the spectator’s mind is momentarily unable to process what is seen, but then understanding occur and aesthetic pleasure takes over. The English word "reflection" can refer to both a visual phenomenon and a meditative process. However, unlike the reflective tain of a mirror, reflections in water can be transient, due to surface disturbances of wind or current. In this respect, they resemble the slipping from sight and then recall of memories. Another reflection derived metaphor can be used to describe a close resemblance or correspondence to something. Similarly, just as optical reflections mirror that which is reflected, in mental reflection a dialogue is established between memories of the subject that is being reflected upon and the mental process of reflection.

I was born 2nd November in the coastal city of Durban South Africa.I did my first drawing of an elephant at the age of three. As it was executed in the sand on a farm there is no trace of it left. The importance I placed on animals as a child remains my passion and intellectual concern. Since moving to France I have exploredmy new environment next to the Lot river.
