ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Here the artist pulls it's viewers into a certain frame of time. To some it could be just a few seconds of a certain point in his life, but based on the title, he intends to create a "painted synecdoche" by using one Monday to represent all Mondays. Based on the facial expressions on the faces, he wants the viewers to believe Mondays are joyful and exciting but this could be seen as a decoy to what his Mondays could actually feel like. From the attires worn by some of the subjects in the painting, it depicts the National Youth corpers who are in service to their country for which the artist was involved at the time the painting was made. Mondays were usually for Community development service which was referred to as CDS which usually is an exhaustive activity. But despite the stress attached to Mondays, the artist chooses a moment of joy in the midst of chaos. He finds peace, love and joy in being around friends during these periods which serves as a mental distraction to strenuous weekly program.
