ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This piece was inspired by the majestic beauty and color palette of the peacock. The meaning behind the peacock’s elegant feathers is interpreted differently by those who see them, radiating an aura of protection, harmony, self-expression, freedom, and divine power. The unique color palette of the peacock is reflected in this painting, its blend of many shades mirroring the different shades of life. Emerald green represents renewal & growth, chartreuse yellow symbolizes life’s brightness and positivity, purple and blue illustrate passion & calmness, while copper and gold embody healing and success. Around the painting, songket fabric is used, a traditional weaving cloth made by Malays in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Brunei. Songket cloth is woven with gold and silver silk threads, known for its intricate and stunning patterns of flora and fauna, reflecting the identity and characteristics of the Malays. In the past, due to its luxurious textile that required months to be hand-woven into exquisite fabrics, the songket cloth was only used for special occasions, such as ceremonies, religious festivals, or traditional social functions. In the modern era, the use of songket cloth is used for various celebrations, such as births, marriages, and even death, celebrating the various moments of life. With the peacock's color symbolism and the songket’s cultural beauty and customs, this intuitive abstract canvas is meant to be a blessing to your everyday life. Allow this painting to reflect the positive symbolism that is the peacock; let the soothing and vibrant colors take you on a reflective journey and allow yourself to find a connection and balance within yourself.

I’m Mexican-Italian, born in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico in August of 1978. Ironically, an artist born to two oceanographers. From a young age, life has lead me to live in different countries, including Canada, United States, Italy, France and Malaysia, where I had many life lessons and experiences and interacted with various cultures and languages. Professionally, my background is in the creative field: fashion design, image consulting, visual merchandising, decoration of interiors and visual arts. Creating art to me is allowing myself the freedom to play, experiment with different materials, colors and mediums, without a particular goal in mind, just plain curiosity for what may come. As if by serendipity, I end up finding meaningful insights, either during the process or as a result, hence the reason why Intuitive Abstract Art is the technique which mostly resonates with me. Today I understand that beauty doesn’t lie on the surface, beauty is found within and if you allow it to enter your life, it then materializes. It is accepting divinity, because beauty is love and love is divine. My other areas of interest are psychology, mysticism, spirituality, ancient cultures, music, drama, comedy, and learning as much as I can from whatever experiences life sends my way.
