ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting comes with an external frame and is ready to hang Signed on the front and signed certificate of authenticity. A romantic strawberry tale from the Cherokee tribe is the story behind my painting Strawberry Sunday. First Man and First Woman had been happily living together, but one day they begun to quarrel. First Woman had enough and took off. First Man began to miss her and so looked for her. The Sun took pity on him and wanted to help him. She let a patch of blueberries appear on the path in front of First woman. But still angry, she walked on. The Sun put a bush of blackberries along the roadside. Again the First Woman passed by. Finally, the Sun tried with strawberries. First Woman saw the berries, smelled their delicate perfume and stopped to pick a bright red berry. She ate it, and her anger finally began to fade. She thought about her husband and began to miss him too. She gathered up as many of the berries as she could carry and hurried back to find her beloved. Reunited, they shared the strawberries and walked back to their home together. Sometimes, the Gods are cruel; sometimes, they are kind. Either way, if you have a loved one in your life, share a strawberry, drink some champagne, and most importantly, be grateful for the love you have…

Andrea Moser is a visual storyteller who uses the power of the visual image to ignite imaginations, evoke emotions and capture universal cultural truths and aspirations. She is combining a unique technique with story-driven content to create iconic works which encourage discussion and get us to think about the content. Andrea grew up in Europe and moved as an adult to Australia. The experience of two cultures made her realise that perspectives and meanings have evolved over time based on our cultural background, experiences, beliefs and values. She is intrigued by these differences and uses them for inspiration in her art. The emphasis is to grow mutual understanding and respect for different perspectives and opinions. Her art is promoting tolerance and diversity to enhance cultural connections through understanding. Her art depicts diverse themes such as fauna and flora, fashion and luxury items, food and drink, cities and suburbs. The common thread between these themes is that they have diverse meanings or symbolic values and different people have different relationships to these themes. The 2000-year-old encaustic medium is her chosen paint medium because she likes to challenge the preconceived views of this ancient technique and uses it in a contemporary way. She is combining this ancient medium with contemporary techniques such as pen drawings, gilding and oil paints to create mixed media paintings.
