About The Artwork
The song by the same name by Freddie Dickson was the inspiration for this piece. The lyrics are vague but the darkness of the melody creeps up on you slowly and builds until it almost overwhelms you. To me, this song is about a relationship that, at first seems harmless but turns toxic. A relationship that gives you just enough for you to hang onto it even when it feels wrong. I expressed this through the colour and the sharp lines present throughout. Though not obvious at first, jagged edges are present and disturb the calmness that was once present. I wanted it to capture struggle.
