In the quiet narrative of "Breath," a painting born from the union of traditional strokes and reclaimed silk screen, the iconic London Tower and its steadfast companion, the red booth, stand as witnesses to a poignant tale. This piece, inspired by personal experiences, unfolds a solemn reflection on the plight of victims ensnared in the web of immigration detention and deportation. The London Tower, rendered with a blend of classic brushwork, carries the weight of stories left untold. Its stoic presence symbolizes the bureaucratic complexities that entangle lives. Beside it, the red booth, a simple yet powerful emblem of communication, becomes a silent observer to the quiet struggles faced by those caught in the throes of immigration turmoil. The reclaimed silk screen, a textured backdrop to the painted scenes, embodies the fragmented nature of these stories – torn, yet still holding on. Layers of history and personal resilience are interwoven, forming a visual tapestry that speaks to the complexity of the immigration experience. "Breath" transcends its visual elements; it resonates with the silent breaths held in uncertainty and the exhales of relief upon arriving at a decision. The title itself is a reflection of the struggle for breath – a basic right often overlooked. Through this piece, I aim to shine a light on the often overlooked victims of immigration deception and their collective struggle for the freedom to breathe, to exist unburdened by the shadows of deceit. In its simplicity, "Breath" invites viewers to engage in a contemplative pause, fostering empathy for those who, like myself, navigated the tumultuous waters of immigration fraud with resilience and the unwavering hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Artist Statement: In the shadows of a nine-year struggle in the fashion world, my dreams crumbled, leaving me with a heavy heart and a yearning for a new chapter. Seeking solace in the UK, I found myself entangled in the painful web of immigration fraud, forced into a surreal dance with a sham marriage that went against everything I believed in. Refusing to be entangled in dishonesty, I came back to Ghana, where I faced a heartbroken family, empty pockets, and a pile of old t-shirts and used silk screens. In the depths of despair, a flicker of inspiration ignited. Those discarded t-shirts and silk screens, remnants of a broken dream, became my refuge. Through the fusion of traditional painting and innovative installations, I transformed the remnants of my past into a canvas of emotion. Each brushstroke tells a tale of resilience, a silent scream against the weight of adversity. My art encapsulates the essence of my journey—raw, emotional, and brimming with the beauty found in the cracks of a shattered life. Step into the intimacy of my creations, where every piece is a piece of my heart. Amidst the wreckage, my art invites you to feel the emotions woven into every thread, a testament to the human spirit's capacity to endure, heal, and emerge stronger. Threads of Resilience is not just a visual narrative; it's a heartfelt invitation to witness the beauty that can arise from the most painful chapters of our lives. Art Biography" As a self-taught artist, I find inspiration in the overlooked and forgotten, transforming discarded silk screen wooden frames into vibrant canvases that tell a story of resilience and creative rebirth. My art is a celebration of history, sustainability, and the enduring beauty found in unexpected places. With a background deeply rooted in graphic design and printing, I approach each piece as a canvas infused with the patina of time. The worn surfaces of the frames become a visual narrative, echoing the imprints of designs from the silk screen printing industry's bygone era. I invite viewers to explore the layers of history within my art, contemplating the convergence of the past and the present. Through exhibitions, workshops, and community projects, I aim to foster a deeper appreciation for the potential of creative regeneration. #ArtisticRenewal #ReclaimedArtistry #FromSetbackToCanvas
