About The Artwork
The missing parts of fulfillment 130 x 90 cm ( 51.1 x 35.4 in) Nikos Lamprinos’ mixed media work is made of leftovers from his previous paintings, as well as plastic remains of actual 3D printing processes. He uses discarded masking tapes, which he has been collecting for years, and which somehow constitute the ‘negatives’ of his previous geometric paintings. Along similar lines, he adds to the canvas discarded plastic support structures used in 3D printing, attempting a juxtaposition between painting’s two-dimensional aspect and technological processes such as 3D printing. The assembled colourful tapes showcase his interest in both the painterly and artificial qualities, whereas this “reverse” creation process touches upon the post-processing and excess materials required by both processes.
