This is part of a series of works that was inspired by the Iran Iraq war in the early 2000's. The notion that broken lightbulbs represent broken lives and the darkness caused by human aggression is at the or of the piece. Using recycled and broken materials seems appropriate to the message. It is hoped that viewers will see the dichotomy between the beauty and intricacy of the object and the ugliness of its purpose. The work is mounted in a clear acrylic case

Born in Bramhall, Cheshire and raised in Derbyshire, I now live and works near the River Trent in Nottingham in a self- built zero carbon house/studio. I see myself predominantly as a ‘maker’ of work as much as a painter and collage my works from various materials, many of them recycled. Paint-wise I have worked in oils, acrylics and encaustic, giving my work a layered and three-dimensional quality.
