Repurposed Artwork

My artwork is called “REPURPOSED”. As you can understand from the name of the artwork, I created this piece from my other artwork leftovers. I am a paper artist who produces modern unique designs created by quilling technique. Using multiple colours and repeating geometric shapes such as vortex, diamond or rolls, my artwork differs from other classic quilling artists. I enjoy creating modern, minimal and contemporary art pieces using vibrant colours of the rainbow and their shades. I have been saving different size of paper strips, vortex shapes with variety of heights and shades of colours from my previous projects since I started paper quilling in 2019. I have had this idea since the beginning of discovering my quilling style and I have always planned to create something with these pieces. My main concept was to create something using these small pieces like bricks or lego and illustrate 3D artwork. I wanted my viewers to see different layers in my artwork and to notice details in my quilling pieces. I wanted to show my craftsmanship work in quilling pieces, my long time practice and how most of us enjoy colours and gradients created by different tones of colours. I also wanted viewers to appreciate things from the past, things we think throw in the bin and how it can be repurposed to evolve into something brand new.
