I like to watch insects and how they are built : when I found one dead I bring it back to my cabinet of curiosities. I like to think about their short life, imagining what it was, looking for the futur of the species in a era of massive extinction due to our civilisation. The European hornet is a dangerous animal when it stings... this is usually due if it is threatened, feels threatened (at night when it is lost by light, or when you are closer to 5 m of the colonial nest...) But most of the time, it’s a peaceful animal that you can watch doing its work as a hornet: bringing things to the nest like fibers to build, flying... This animal is now threatened by its cousins: the Asian hornet, reputed much more dangerous and known for killing bees. These two animals are a symbol of globalization because they may not be so different in their own environment. They can be a problem when humans move them from their own habitat to another where no predator can regulate their populations.
