About The Artwork

"Garish: Illuminati", 2014; 20" x 16"; Ink, Spray Paint and Acrylic on Wood I came across a portrait of Canadian Magician Doug Henning a few months ago, and the prominent overbite and his expression made me look further. I found the best image, in my opinion, when I came across the inspiration for this piece, in which he was holding a Triangular Prism. "Magic" is illusion. The ability to make someone see something that is not there, to deceive and redirect the viewer. This is often seen as the act of the "Illuminati" as well, the supposed secret society which governs and rules the world. In actuality, I feel there is no Illuminati and there is no magic - merely our own perceptions of what our life is and who controls it. There is only the illusion of control by others - everyone is truly in control of their lives and may change what they wish when they want to. There is too much opportunity in the world to blame others for your actions...
