'PRESS XY'
In just 10 years (2009-19), 180 school shootings took place in America with 356 victims. The vast majority are committed by males. 'PRESS XY' poses the questions:
Why are males so much more likely to commit a school shooting?
What drives these young men to commit these tragic acts?
What part does society play in creating conditions in which these crimes can occur?
And will the increasing trend of school shootings change the way that gun restrictions (or the lack of) are viewed?
Specific perpetrators faces/names will not appear anywhere within the project. The heart of this project is the victims.
I aim not to 'understand' the perpetrators (which could suggest sympathy) but I aim to 'comprehend' what happened and why.
