The role of the woman as giver of abundance, full bodied, generous, nurturing, available, selfless, is as American as Apple Pie. This piece consists of 2 stacked solid cherry panels, a mounted botanical print and a blonde figure hard wood cutout. This work, as all pieces in the We Women line up, is fitted with hardware that mounts flush to the wall, creating an engaging wall hung relief construction. This unique work is the 8th panel in the series 'We Women', which walks through the lifespan of archetypical women. The journey begins with the first panel denoting the vitality and exuberance of young women before they are shaped by cultural dictates. The story continues though the varied complexities of coming of age in western culture. The final panel of 'We Women' celebrates mature individuals who have made it through the journey triumphant, retaining or regaining their birthright; owning their autonomy, desires and power.
