Doom is related to the element of fire. It takes its name from the homonymous volcano present in the book, and in the film, by J. R. R. Tolkien "The Lord of the Rings", the place where the One Ring was forged, a symbol of power. Tolkien had "untouched nature" very much at heart and he was against its exploitation and against the industry that for him was synonymous with war; industry and technological progress represented a tempting path towards selfish goals. Today's society is completely dependent on industry and technology, nature is exploited and little is being done to be able to preserve it. The human presence is creating more and more problems for our planet: pollution, exploitation of resources, destruction of ecosystems to make room for livestock and intensive agriculture. In the artwork we used straight lines and an aluminum foil coating to give it an industrial look. The aluminum used comes from recycled beer cans and the mirror from processing waste. In our works we always try to use recycled or waste materials because we believe it's necessary to limit and recover waste by giving it importance again.

We are Federica Venier and Federico Grande, a couple in work and in life, self-taught sculptors since 2015. Our adventure was born almost for fun, not having much money to invest we started using low cost and recycled materials. Today's society is characterized by strong consumerism and many materials are wasted or thrown away, but we think it is important to enhance them by giving them a second life. Even with poor and waste materials you can create an extraordinary work. Our artworks are unique pieces made entirely by hand. The light interacts with them making them "alive", they change according to the time of day, the weather, the lighting and the point from which you look at it.
