This Ganesha painting is part of the 30-day Strada Challenge (one painting each day painted from life) I took up in the month of September, 2023 with the theme of Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. I tried to represent through my paintings firstly the hard work that goes into the making of the Ganesha idol in really trying conditions and then the 10-days festivities where people enthusiastically welcome these idols in their homes and pandals. This beautiful idol at Bal Vikas Sarvjanik Ganeshothsav Mandal, Mumbai is a representation of a completed Ganesha idol at a pandal. I spent the whole day at the pandal witnessing the happenings while I painted the idol as well as sketched the other activities, from aarti in the morning, a pooja that was organised at noon to the bhajan session at night. The painting has been made on 100% cotton, acid free, archival paper with artist grade colors. It comes unframed without matting and ships in sturdy tubes. Hope this Bappa painting adds positiveness to your space. Thank you for your interest.

I'm an Architect by qualification with a Masters in Environmental Architecture and have been painting ever since I can remember. Painting is a means of showing the world my version of the beauty that surrounds us. And beauty for me can be found even in the ordinary.. I started my art journey with graphite and along came watercolors and its alluring to watch the pigment flow on wet paper each time. Watercolors inherent character helps me create a soft/dreamy look with wet-on-wet technique, and play of lost and found edges help me in building a focus. I love painting outdoors and the fact that I’m clueless as to what might end up as my subject. Anything and everything is a possibility. Light however plays an important role in determining the possibility. Also what I love about live painting is I get to see stories unfolding right in front of me and I can keep building stories and characters in my paintings as I see them. Painting live outdoors also means, apart from the painting I also get to take back the feel, the sounds and a mix bag of experiences as a reminder of the place. Painting helps me be a storyteller, paint visual stories of all the places that inspire me. Apart from expressing myself, I would love my art to inspire people to SEE rather than just look at the magical world around us.
