VIEW IN MY ROOM
No Homo is often said to show that you aren't gay after saying something that sounded gay, like "hey man, pass the nuts. No homo". While it's meant to be harmless, it puts homosexuality into a shunned, distasteful and second-class category. It's bad to be gay. No one would want to be gay. This artwork follows the thread of #NoHomo through the prism of social media, from the words of the scriptures, to the persecution of gays in the military and the blurring of lines of sexuality at the far-left and far-right ends of the political spectrum. The hand in the lake is a nod to all those men who feel they're drowning before they come out - still a traumatic and difficult process, hampered by the catechism of #NoHomo
