About The Artwork

This lovely one-of-a-kind original painting captures the drama of a storm rolling in over Mount Ruapehu in New Zealand. As viewed from the Desert Road that runs alongside the mountain. Created with gestural brustrokes in a very painterly and free technique. Several layers of interesting textures and painterly techniques add to the atmosphere. Thick impasto paint layered on the mountain while scratchy brushes lay in the foreground dry grasses. Transparent and opaque layers as well as a fluid glazing, are seen throughout the dramatic clouds. Comes with a black float frame. Signed front, and additionally signed on the back with name and date. Also comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Alex DiMercurio is a French-born New Zealand artist with a profound love for nature and art, seamlessly blending post-impressionism, fauvism, and abstract realism into a unique style. With over 20 years of experience as both a galleried and professional, self-representing artist, Alex has established direct connections with curators and collectors worldwide. Her mission is to celebrate the simple beauty of the natural world through immersive and contemplative works that enhance our connection to nature and foster a conservationist spirit. She is captivated by the interplay of movement, light, and contrasting shadows in natural settings, infused with vibrant colours. No, the paragraph is not grammatically correct because it has a misplaced modifier. The phrase "Best known for her treescapes" should modify the subject of the sentence. Here's a corrected version: Best known for her treescapes, which are imbued with light, colour, energy, and a hint of nostalgia, Alex DiMercurio's works explore the interconnectedness of all things, inviting contemplation of nature's fragile beauty and the ephemeral passage of time. Alex's unique painterly style combines highly textural impasto with translucent and fluid brush strokes, revealing subtle layers of colour and form beneath. This technique creates profound depth and intensity in each piece. Her latest work focuses on highly textural abstract cloudscapes, exploring refracted light, colour relationships, and the emotions evoked by dramatic sunset and sunrise hues. These pieces, seemingly levitate off the walls, inviting close inspection and touch, while also offering new perspectives from a distance.
