Made after a visit to Japan, and the Hiroshima Peace Museum. This was a childs bicycle that had been buried in the garden by the father of the child who was killed in the blast. I drew it from memory when I got back to the UK, but after I'd made the image, I looked up the actual bike online and realsied this one was completely different to what I'd seen. The original in the museum has a large front wheel and a small back wheels. I couldn't work out why I'd remembered it so badly until my sister pointed out that the one I've drawn is actually our childhood toy from the 1960's. It seems I'd imagined myself in the position of the Japanese boy and his father. This made it more interesting to me.
