This panel was made as a part of a major exhibition in London called Alhambra. The theme of the work was exploring traditional Islamic designs seen in Spain, made in the latest contemporary techniques, which on this occasion was kiln-formed. I started the design during my Artist in residence at Plas Newydd in North Wales where wild flowers were in full bloom. It was a joy to be surrounded by such natural beauty. I chose Bullseye glass for its high quality and vivid appearance, in certain light conditions it sparkles like jewels. The background of the panel is Crystal Clear Tekta, the blue lines and flowers are also Bullseye. All the shapes were hand-cut then fused in stages.
