Mediums: Bass wood, museum board, red brick, gold leaf, sand, river stone, rocks, terra cotta tiles, minerals: lapis lazuli, white quartz, rainbow hematite, turquoise, biotite mica. Dimensions: 16.1 inches wide by 20.5 inches long by 13.8 inches high. "Lordar Keep" is a breathtaking piece that took more than 2,000 hours to conceptualize, design, and create over a 3 year period. It has been my greatest passion. This model has incredible views from all 4 facades and every angle. A Celtic and Greek-style temple connects with a detailed castle / medieval fortress. This project started out as a passion to create a fantasy fortress using natural materials that would be beautiful in every detail. I love medieval structures, so making a castle was natural for me. I started with wood and brick, and used various combinations of stone in both texture and sizes. Having been an architecture major in college, all of the walkways, bridges, and courtyards are well thought out. The castle has four total entry points, with unique types of doors. The temple was to be the most luxurious and vivid part of the piece. I made a temple of brick, painted in milk chocolate color, and laid the floor with silver biotite mica. The wall surrounding the temple is actual marble blocks. The top of the wall and base of the temple is detailed with black biotite mica that also has traces of yellow iron ore. Columns made from mixed stones and minerals surround the temple and support the rooftop, which is hand-laid in wood shingles. The temple doorway is made from wood and laid with quartz.
