The beauty of romance, tradition and hope are expressed in this 12"x 9" figurative original oil painting. In this painting, the artist captures a bride and groom gazing at each other. The question arises as to where they are in their day and what might they be thinking and feeling. Beautiful details in the bride's dress and dramatic red bouquet have a passionate, joyful rhythm. As we move up the staircase to the window with a view to the outdoors, we meet her groom. A dashing young man who's simply dressed and exudes an air of confidence and sensitivity. The paintings lines are simple yet defined and capture the essence of what is observed with a distinct, clear perspective that invites the viewer to unfold the balance of the story.

ARTISTS STATEMENT: I observe, and participate in, the change of hues. I stand alone in a perspective—influenced by the roads and detours that I’ve chosen. The subjects I interpret on canvas dance with tradition, but underneath exists an individual search for freedom. As a creator, I’ve always been interested in working with color. I see my life as having a palette of its own and I seek to have the chroma of my experiences come through in my paintings. Over time, I’ve realized the only way to achieve this goal is to risk exposure—to unveil my simplified forms to the viewer. Whether the forms operate within the context of landscape or still life, the resulting narrative is always a story of merit, regardless of public perception or understanding. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: I was born in Vancouver, BC in 1958 and then moved to California which is where my parents originally met. I lived there until I was 6 when my family moved across the US to New Jersey for my father's work. I grew up in a creative family and pursued art in college only to leave it upon graduation, dabbling with it over the years that followed. In 2010 I returned to painting on a more committed basis. This was spawned by some significant life changes and painting became my respite. I still reside in New Jersey and as an artist I appreciate the proximity to both Philadelphia and New York City. I've been showing my work since 2011 and continue to do so.
