Context: In a world that constantly chases perfection, "Wounds of Time: Corrosion and Rebirth" invites us to reflect on the inherent beauty of imperfection and transience. Inspiring Philosophy: Inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, this work celebrates the marks that time leaves on us and our surroundings, recognizing in them a unique form of beauty and authenticity. Description of the Work Technique and Materials: Using a combination of metals prone to oxidation and mixed techniques that favor the emergence of rich and varied textures, this work captures the essence of transformation and the passage of time. Visual: The piece features a color palette ranging from earthy tones to the vibrant oranges and reds of rust, interspersed with fragments of clarity symbolizing rebirth. Key Concepts Corrosion as Metaphor: Oxidation represents not only physical degradation but also lived experiences, losses, and learnings. It's a reminder that even in decomposition, there's a story worth telling. Rebirth: Through corrosion, a new form of beauty emerges, one that values scars as symbols of strength and survival. Impermanence: This work reminds us of the constant evolution of life, accepting impermanence as an integral part of our existence. Visual and Emotional Impact Reflection: It invites the viewer to contemplate textures and colors as maps of experiences, urging us to find beauty in what is usually considered imperfect or deteriorated. Connection: It creates a deep connection with the observer, evoking the universality of change and the ability to find light and beauty in the shadows of time.

I'm Sergio Aranda, Spanish by nationality, but I was born in Switzerland back in 1971. My life's been quite an adventure, taking me through various cities like Geneva, Barcelona, Paris, and now I've made Madrid my home sweet home. These different places have had a profound impact on the way I express myself through art. I'm a visual artist, and I also wear the hat of a jewelry designer. Moreover, I hold certification as a diamond expert from HRD. But what truly fuels my creative fire is my deep love for "Urbex decay" and everything that's corroded and worn. I'm all about those rough textures, surfaces that seem to carry a hidden narrative, and patterns reminiscent of old industrial structures. To achieve the edgy aesthetic I crave, I like to play around with techniques like layering paint, scraping, sandblasting, and acid washing. However, my art isn't just about appearances. It's a means to tell a more profound story. I'm passionate about exploring themes of time, transformation, and decay. When you gaze at my artwork, you're not merely seeing a picture; you're diving into a reflection of how things evolve and age in our contemporary world. What I find truly captivating is the incorporation of industrial and corroded elements into my art. This adds a unique tension to my work, prompting contemplation about the delicate yet resilient nature of our world. I have a particular talent for capturing the essence of transformation, encouraging you to reflect on the ephemeral nature of life itself. One of the most exciting aspects of my art is how it challenges conventional notions of beauty. I see beauty in corrosion and altered materials, offering a fresh perspective that challenges our preconceived ideas of aesthetics. My art serves as a bridge connecting the past and the present, reminding us that beauty can be found even in the midst of decay. In essence, my artistic journey is all about pushing boundaries, encouraging you to reconsider your concept of beauty, and celebrating the unexpected.
