HERE AND NOW is a dyptic of 2 modules of 60x60 cm. The artwork explores the interplay between representation and abstraction, inviting viewers into a visual dialogue that transcends traditional boundaries. Comprised of two distinct modules, this composition delves into the realm of human expression, juxtaposing a silhouette of a face with a captivating abstract design. In the first module, a powerful silhouette commands attention, its contours suggesting the presence of a human figure. Through the simplicity of the silhouette, I strive to convey the essence of emotion and identity. By stripping away intricate details, the focus is shifted towards the fundamental aspects of the face—its contours, shadows, and delicate nuances. The viewer is encouraged to engage with the work on a deeper level, projecting their own experiences and emotions onto the enigmatic figure. Contrasting this figurative representation, the second module embraces a more abstract and design-centric approach. Here, I employ an array of shapes, lines, and colours to create a dynamic visual composition. The deliberate arrangement encourages viewers to explore the intricate details, unveiling hidden layers of meaning and symbolism. Together, these two modules engage in a conversation, celebrating the diversity of artistic expression. They invite viewers to contemplate the dichotomy between representation and abstraction, challenging preconceived notions and provoking thought. The diptych encourages a dialogue on the nature of identity, perception, and the limitless possibilities of visual language. limited edition 3 units • Type: Printing on Fuji Crystal Archive Professional Maxima photographic paper, covered by transparent methacrylate and mounted on Dibond aluminium. • signed and number at the front on both modules

artist statement “I explore the essence of ART: I am intrigued by the motifs of the works that endure over time, and those that fall into oblivion. I live art as a timeless conversation where not everything is said, where the essential is precisely the unspoken. There are some things in life that are just too hard to put into words. They're so deep and meaningful that they go beyond what language can express. And it's exactly those things, the unsaid, the little shared moments that draw you in and make you a part of the art. When you experience a piece of art, it's like this secret language between you and the artist. You become a vital player, an enthusiastic collaborator in the whole artistic experience. And that's the kind of art that sticks around. That's the kind of art I strive to create in every single piece I make. This conversation we could be having right now, you in front of an artwork, it's like magic. It breathes life into the artwork, making it a forever item. With every interaction, with every different person who engages with it, the art is reborn and finished all over again. It's a beautiful dance between the artist, the artwork, and the viewer, each bringing their own unique touch to the mix. That is what I finally intend when I create my art: I want you to be an active part of my living work. BIO Begoña Lafuente is a versatile artist in the realms of painting, graphic design, and multimedia. Her artistic career was initially grounded in graphic design, which she honed in Madrid during the early 1990s. Begoña skillfully weaves her classical artistic education, holding a degree in Fine Arts, with her commitment to staying at the forefront of evolving art forms. In 2009, she embarked on a new chapter in the Netherlands, where she connected with local and international artists from diverse disciplines. This cross-cultural experience became an integral part of her art, merging seamlessly with the rich tradition of the Spanish school. Begoña's creative palette encompasses an array of techniques, including painting, collage, drawing, photography, scans, and monoprints. Her work consistently features the human face as a symbol of humanity. Her semi-abstract portraits blur the boundaries between the familiar and the abstract, capturing the essence of individuals in elegant simplicity, transcending mere photographic likeness. By amalgamating the recognizable with the abstract, her creations generate emotional and visual tension.
