This artwork is an Allegorical representation of how to understand the mind and take control of it. The horse represents the animal part of every individual ie, our emotions, energy, our will power. The Rider represents our thoughts, our rational thinking. If the rider is too dominated, ie; you hold the reigns very tight/ you squeeze your thigh really hard at the sides of the horse. The horse won’t respond or do anything cause it picks up that you want to control it too much but if you allow the horse to do what ever it does, it becomes very dangerous. It can run in a very fast speed what you need is the balance Between the two. So let’s say, you are afraid and want to control everything; your emotions get wild and mostly puts you in a difficult situations which may make you take irrational decisions. But on the other hand if you find balance between your mind and yourself. That’s when you can live a happy life. . One should never be rigid. One should always be like the willow, swaying with the breeze, but, like the willow, we should concentrate our energies in one direction only at a time.”
